Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and referee various youth sports programs, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for all participants.
  • Enforce and follow all Channel Islands YMCA policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Respond to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures, completing incident reporting as necessary.
  • Provide instruction that is inclusive and based on best practices, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Set up and put away equipment before and after youth sports programs, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, fostering connections with members and promoting a positive experience.
  • Participate in and satisfactorily complete in-service trainings, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
  • Create an environment that is welcoming, nurturing, and inclusive for all members and guests, promoting a sense of community and belonging.
  • Able to work collaboratively and respectfully as part of a staff team, supporting the mission and values of the Channel Islands YMCA.
  • Ensure building, grounds, and equipment are in working order, reporting any concerns or issues.
  • Maintain certifications and take advantage of professional growth opportunities, staying current and competitive in the field.
  • Support the annual campaign process, educating members on the importance of giving back to the community.
  • Understand and report any instances of elder or child abuse, responding in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the safety of children in facilities and programs, providing proper supervision at all times.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; valid work permit required if a minor.
  • Previous work experience in a related field is preferred.
  • Complete required certifications within 30 days of hire.
  • Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire.
  • Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance, if over 18 years old.
