About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Director of Information Security and Compliance to lead our cybersecurity program and ensure the security and integrity of our systems and data. As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for defining the strategic direction of our cybersecurity program and building a team of compliance and security professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Define the strategic direction of the organization's cybersecurity and compliance programs
  • Build and manage a small team of cybersecurity and compliance professionals
  • Be responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and management of information security strategies
  • Be responsible for the overall planning, implementing, and management of information security compliance policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and customer contracts
  • Have a broad understanding of both technical and business aspects, as you will be tasked with aligning security initiatives with organizational goals
  • Work closely with leadership in Technology and other departments to ensure that security risks are managed effectively and that the company's data assets are protected
Requirements
  • 10+ years of proven experience in information security, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing cybersecurity strategies and programs
  • In-depth knowledge of information security frameworks, such as NIST, ISO 27001, and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA, State-Level Data Privacy Laws, SOX)
  • Proficiency in risk management and the ability to develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate security risks
  • Strong technical expertise in network security, identity management, incident response, and vulnerability management
  • Experience aligning security initiatives with organizational goals and objectives, ensuring that security strategies support business growth
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively interact with C-suite executives and cross-functional teams, translating technical risks into business context
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-departmental projects
  • Experience with cloud security and securing data in different tech environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA are highly preferred
  • Experience in a startup or rapidly growing company: Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
