Position Overview:

The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences is on the lookout for a Bioinformatics Specialist I to play a key role in the creation and execution of tailored analytical workflows for the examination of single-cell RNA-sequencing data. The selected individual will be tasked with designing and implementing analytical strategies to resolve project inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting thorough investigative research and designing experiments.
  • Interpreting results and analyzing research projects related to bioinformatics.
  • Mining and scrutinizing biological datasets, constructing data models, and overseeing datasets.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, complemented by a minimum of 2 years of professional experience. Preferred qualifications include a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related area, along with proficiency in molecular biology, genetics, and programming languages such as R and Python.

Experience:

Applicants should have familiarity with NGS data processing, analytical methodologies for RNA-sequencing, and tools for data analysis. Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills are essential.

Department: Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine Department

Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, Onsite required

Employee Onsite Status: Hybrid
