Job Title: Staff Attorney

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Attorney to join our team at the Florence Project. As a Staff Attorney, you will work closely with our team to provide high-quality legal representation to unaccompanied children in immigration proceedings.

Job Summary:

The Staff Attorney will be responsible for providing direct representation to clients in immigration court, as well as conducting intake interviews and providing Know Your Rights presentations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immigration law, excellent research and writing skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct representation to clients in immigration court, including representation in removal proceedings and appeals.
  • Conduct intake interviews with clients to assess their needs and develop case strategies.
  • Provide Know Your Rights presentations to clients and community members.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure effective case management and client outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in immigration law and policy, and apply this knowledge to client cases.
Requirements:
  • J.D. and admission to any state bar.
  • Experience practicing immigration law, preferably in a non-profit or public interest setting.
  • Excellent research and writing skills, with the ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop effective case strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • License to practice in Arizona.
  • Fluency in Spanish or other languages relevant to the client population.
  • Experience working with children and families, particularly in the context of immigration law.
  • Knowledge of immigration law and policy, including deportation defense, asylum, and family-based immigration.
