Job Summary

The Medical Transport Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that emergency and non-emergency patient transportation and associated communication are performed professionally and efficiently. This role requires a high level of expertise in patient transportation logistics, conflict resolution, and staff motivation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receives and schedules all requests for patient transportation, ensuring timely and safe transportation.
  • Monitors daily transportation status, including asset accountability and patient length of stay.
  • Assesses staff morale and implements measures to promote teamwork and a positive work environment.
  • Responds to emergent situations, such as ambulance diversion and code triage.
  • Facilitates early administrative notification of variances and monitors compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provides initial investigation of variances and continually assesses employee relations.
  • Oversees the pre-hospital direction of inbound ambulances, ensuring destination decisions are consistent with campus capability and capacity.
Requirements
  • Georgia Licensed Paramedic.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Five (5) years full-time EMS experience.
  • Experience or training in supervision or leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in patient transportation logistics.
  • Clear understanding of the Medicare definition of medical necessity.
  • Ability to assess and mitigate risk when making command decisions.
  • Keen understanding of the importance of positively motivating and encouraging staff.
