OSP Field Operations Manager

At Allied Universal, we are seeking a skilled OSP Field Operations Manager to supervise and maintain control of outside plant activities surrounding a given work site.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of outside plant construction and a proven track record in effectively running a crew of two or more.
The OSP Field Operations Manager will be responsible for:
- Supervising crews performing OSP activities and ensuring that crews safely perform work in accordance with industry standards, the contract's scope of work, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Accurately interpreting underground utility records, power utility grid maps, railroad validation maps, and plat maps to prepare engineering field notes in sufficient clarity and detail.
- Making recommendations for changes in running line or construction methodologies due to knowledge of or experience in environmental conditions, construction access by crews, or congestion of utilities.
- Understanding and actively participating in the engineering, permitting, and construction processes to support the requirements of the project contract.
- Documenting and accounting for own and subcontractors' work performed at any phase of construction using standard company procedures.
- Determining and executing correct procedures for OSP fiber optic cable splicing, termination, testing, and documentation.
- Effectively running a crew of two or more, or supervising subcontractor tasking, to meet or exceed assigned tasking based on the interpretation of daily and weekly schedules.
- Accurately gauging the capabilities of assigned crew members to provide input to daily and weekly project tasking.

The ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering, or an associate's degree in construction management or engineering with a minimum of three years of OSP engineering or construction experience.
- Technical certification with a minimum of four years of OSP engineering or construction experience.
- A valid driver's license if driving a company or customer-owned vehicle.
- Minimum of one year of OSP engineering or construction experience.
- The ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction drawings and specifications, common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and other documents.
- Effective communication skills in both oral and written English technical language.
- The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- The ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
We offer a competitive salary range of $30-$40 per hour, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, and disability insurance, enrollment in our company's 401(k) plan, eight paid holidays annually, five sick days, and four personal days, and vacation time offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly.
