Job Summary

This role is a vital part of our treatment team, ensuring the continuity of treatment and the physical safety of residents during their shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with residents, their healthcare providers, and the pharmacy to coordinate medication refills.
  • Monitor medication adherence and notify the Program Director and Clinical Director as necessary.
  • Accurately record medications in the possession of residents and maintain up-to-date documentation.
  • Ensure the medication refrigerator is in working condition and monitor refrigeration temperatures.
  • Facilitate smooth medication return and release at discharge.
  • Stock the medication room with necessary supplies.
  • Inspect house supplies and first aid kits for expired medication.
  • Assist with scheduled medication disposal in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Regularly clean and organize the medication storage area.
  • Orient new residents to our medication policies and procedures.
  • Train program staff on facility medication policies and procedures.
  • Arrange for staff Naloxone training and ongoing medication education.
  • Report medication errors and incidents to BSAS and other authorities as required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of the disease concept of addiction and knowledge of 12-step programs.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • MOP certification.

Organizational Relationship:

  • Directly reports to the Program Director.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs.

Working Conditions:

The facility is a non-smoking environment. As part of this role, the recovery specialist will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required.
