VDC Manager

Join Turner Construction as a VDC Manager and lead the way in preconstruction, engineering, and field installation of BIM-related project deliverables.

The VDC Manager is responsible for overseeing the activities of VDC Coordinators, VDC Engineers, and VDC Project Engineers, providing performance feedback to Operations Staff and VDC Regional Manager. This role involves visiting job sites to troubleshoot BIM issues, establishing BIM standards for quality, and monitoring adherence through expertise and direction provided on job sites, at BIM coordination meetings, etc.

• Oversee the activities of VDC Coordinators, VDC Engineers, and VDC Project Engineers
• Visit job sites to troubleshoot BIM issues and resolve problems
• Establish BIM standards for quality and monitor adherence
• Provide expertise to the business unit on local standards, owner standards, and other requirements
• Advise Project Leadership on staffing and related issues during project setup
• Conduct workshops and training to apply BIM to preconstruction and project activities
• Develop and maintain relationships with engineers, design consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and owner's representatives
• Develop a comprehensive working knowledge of contract documents, 2D, and 3D deliverables

• Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 12 years' construction experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Thorough knowledge of construction BIM tools and applications in cost, scheduling, estimating, and coordination principles
• Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite
• Utilizes leading-edge technologies such as BIM and LEAN
• Demonstrated ability to present technical material; ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
• Proficient with BIM-based computer applications such as Navisworks Manage, Trimble SketchUp, Autodesk Revit

The performance of the required duties will require physical ability to occasionally climb permanent and temporary stairs, climb ladders, negotiate work areas under construction, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally requires passenger use of construction personnel hoists. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works on-site at the construction worksite where the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in this work environment is usually moderate to very loud.
