Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our manufacturing department. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading manufacturing teams and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Daily Production Team: Confirm, delegate, coordinate, and inform employees of the processing of orders as well as departmental work scheduling.
  • Meet Production Goals: Work with the team to produce all orders while maintaining or exceeding departmental KPIs (e.g., waste, moistures, efficiencies, downtime, line speed, overweights, etc.) and meeting customer and company specifications.
  • Ensure Quality and Safety: Ensure all quality specifications are followed and issues corrective actions on non-conforming product. Conduct monthly safety and quality sessions as required and keep adequate records.
  • Communicate Effectively: Effectively communicate company, plant, and department priorities across all levels. Communicate any issues during the shift, across all levels, as appropriate (e.g., production orders, safety hazards, etc.).
  • Verify Controls and Budget: Verify controls and ensure all production parameters are within planned budget.
  • Perform Shift Reports: Perform shift reports in a timely manner according to work instruction.
  • Enforce Company Policies: Enforce company, plant, and departmental policies and procedures and work instructions including but not limited to safety policies, GMP's, HAACP standards, AIB standards.
  • Lead and Develop Team Members: Hires, trains, counsels, monitors work, assigns work, disciplines, and terminates employees. Orient new employees and trains on department-related activities.
  • Report Injuries and Illnesses: Reports injuries and illnesses within 24 hours and perform analysis/investigations within 24 hours.
  • Provide Feedback and Performance Evaluations: Provides feedback at regular intervals to team members and conducts performance evaluations of assigned team members.
  • Maintain Knowledge and Skills: Maintains knowledge of plant quality systems and identifies areas of opportunity and training necessary or useful for development with team members.
  • Handle Employee Concerns: Appropriately handles employee concerns and complaints.
  • Conduct Pre-Shift and Shift-Change Meetings: Conducts pre-shift and shift-change meetings with appropriate team members to communicate issues, concerns, and information.
  • Perform Walkthroughs: Performs walkthroughs of production areas with leads, focusing on equipment performance, product quality, housekeeping, safety, and food safety.
  • Schedule Team Members: Schedules team to meet production goals, including approving and scheduling team member vacations.
  • Monitor Time-Keeping System: Monitors time-keeping system (Kronos), verifies payroll hours, transfers hours as appropriate, and resolves any discrepancies.
  • Maintain Teamwork and Fairness: Maintains teamwork, consistency, and fairness among all employees to foster a positive work environment within the department, plant, and entire organization.
  • Ensure Food Safety: Ensures all food safety principles and legal requirements have been applied effectively.
  • Participate in Company Initiatives: Participates actively in LEAN, process improvement, and other company initiatives.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. 3 years of production experience in a manufacturing plant required. Bakery or food/beverage manufacturing preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity or 4 years as a Lead in production required.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience in manufacturing supervisory role with a proven track record in leading manufacturing teams. Bilingual Spanish/English required. Experience and exposure to regulatory inspections (AIB, OSHA, MILITARY, Health Dept., EPA, City & County Inspectors). Experience with Quality Systems and Programs. Familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices, LEAN Manufacturing, 5's, World Class Manufacturing, and/or Six Sigma. A multicultural approach to operating in a diverse business environment. Comfortable communicating and operating within an internationally matrixed environment. Able to perform simple analysis. SAP & Kronos knowledge preferred. Be able to walk long distances and to be on his/her feet for long periods of time. Able to work in dusty, noisy, hot, cold, and small areas. Ability to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends. Strong Computer skills including Microsoft Office Applications. Be able to lift to 50lbs.
