Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Field Technician

Are you interested in a career in utility locating and designating? T2 Utility Engineers (T2ue) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented SUE Field Technician to join our team in the Oceanside, New York office.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and safety-conscious individual to assist in the operation of SUE utility locating and designating equipment, including pipe and cable locators and non-destructive vacuum excavation. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting utility investigations, completing daily logs of work performed, and performing daily routine maintenance of equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Learn and operate SUE utility locating and designating equipment, including pipe and cable locators and non-destructive vacuum excavation
  • Conduct utility investigations using tools and equipment, including jackhammer, pogo-tamper, concrete saw, compressor blower, vacuum hose, air lance, and hand tools
  • Drive commercial motor vehicles, with a valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Complete daily logs of work performed, including simple mathematics
  • Perform daily routine maintenance of equipment
  • Assist with survey and data collection tasks, supporting overall crew activities
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical (U.S. only)
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical card for CMV operation (U.S. only)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical movements necessary to operate heavy tools and equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in all climates
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, by company vehicle or commercial airline, up to 2 week continuous stay
  • Good oral communication skills and attention to detail
  • OSHA Safety certifications are a plus
  • Prior utility-related experience is a plus
