Professor of Practice Position

The Gerald May Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full-time, non-tenured faculty position as a Lecturer or Professor of Practice in the field of construction engineering and construction management. The successful candidate will contribute to the department's mission to educate future leaders in civil, construction, and environmental engineering.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in construction engineering and construction management, including cost estimating, scheduling, structures for construction, building information modeling, and equipment planning and operations.
- Develop and maintain a research program in construction engineering and construction management, with a focus on industry collaboration and student engagement.
- Contribute to the department's service mission by participating in departmental and university service activities, such as committee work and outreach to the construction industry.
- Engage with the local construction community through partnerships, collaborations, and outreach activities.
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of US construction industry experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, or the demonstrable ability to teach, in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
- Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience with industry-standard software and technologies, such as building information modeling (BIM) and construction management software.
- Experience with grant writing and research funding.
- Experience with teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
