Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Clinical Educator - Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine to join our team at the University of New Mexico. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for providing education and supervision to UNM Internal Medicine residents in their primary care continuity and other outpatient clinics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise and provide education to UNM Internal Medicine residents
  • Qualify for and hold faculty appointment with the University of New Mexico School of Medicine
  • Provide comprehensive outpatient general internal medicine consultation and effectively communicate recommendations to primary care providers
  • Perform initial histories and physical examinations, and provide ongoing outpatient care for assigned patients
  • Screen outpatients to determine the need for further care and devise and implement evidence-based and Veteran-centered care plans
  • Prescribe medications within defined scope of practice
Requirements
  • Must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement
  • Must be eligible for a faculty appointment in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico based upon qualifications and experience
  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
  • Must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
  • Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience and skills in Medical Informatics to further development of Academic General Internal Medicine team's population health management programs and residency informatics curriculum
  • Experience in managing patients with high levels of medical complexity and ability to synthesize complex diagnostic and management recommendations
