Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join our Global Surveillance Division, working alongside a team of skilled and diverse professionals.
In this role, you will be responsible for deploying, automating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing the systems and software infrastructure to ensure seamless operation. A hands-on technical background and a proactive approach to environment automation and management are essential, along with a commitment to continuous improvement. You will collaborate within an agile development framework, taking charge of the design and execution of application builds, releases, deployments, and configuration tasks. Your duties will encompass working with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, prototyping, and architecting intricate solutions that support build and test plan execution, conducting quality reviews, and addressing operational challenges. The ideal candidate will possess the capability to take ownership of complex problems and drive them to resolution within a collaborative team setting. A thorough understanding of the software development life cycle and extensive knowledge of automated testing to analyze large datasets is critical.
The Software Engineer will develop, modify, and maintain both customized and standardized applications, adhering to software engineering best practices and standards, and participating in the complete software development life cycle, including requirements gathering, modeling and design, application development, unit testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in the full lifecycle design, implementation, and unit testing of software.
- Collaborate with team members to integrate functionalities with other software components.
- Support the collection and reporting of software metrics.
- Adhere to program software best practices.
- Develop software products throughout all phases of the software lifecycle.
- Create and maintain systems for receiving, storing, processing, displaying, correlating, fusing, and forwarding surface data from multiple sources.
- Implement software products derived from algorithms.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of tracker fundamentals and fusion techniques.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 14 years of experience in software engineering, or a Master's degree with 12 years of experience, or a PhD with 9 years of experience.
- For Senior Principal roles: Bachelor's degree with 9 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 7 years of experience, or a PhD with 4 years of experience.
- Advanced understanding and development experience with multi-target trackers, adaptive processing, or sensor fusion algorithms.
- Demonstrated programming expertise in C/C++ or other object-oriented languages.
- Proficiency in MATLAB or similar programming/analysis languages.
- Experience in developing software for processing and correlating various types of surface data.
- Familiarity with software engineering principles and processes.
- Strong communication skills with customers, senior leadership, and other engineering disciplines.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or PhD in a STEM field with a focus on radar techniques and signal processing.
- Extensive experience in signal processing or RF applications.
- Proficiency in optimal estimation algorithms and adaptive processing.
- Experience with integration and testing of algorithms on various systems.
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
- Previous approval for special access programs.
Salary Range: $142,500 - $213,700
This salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
