Job Summary

The Sales Associate will play a key role in assisting customers in finding the products they need, while also maintaining a clean and organized store environment. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide a positive representation of Ace Hardware to customers.
    • Proactively assist customers in solving problems and finding solutions.
    • Greet customers entering and throughout the store, and thank them when finished and when they are leaving the store.
    • Possess a friendly and outgoing demeanor, and work well with customers and associates.
    • Ensure all customer inquiries are answered promptly, courteously, and effectively.
    • Forward any customer complaints that cannot be handled to a member of management.
    • Possess strong product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
    • Assist customers throughout the store with personalized service based on the premise of delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Store Operations:
    • Assist in creating a positive, professional, and safe work environment.
    • Assist with receiving, checking in, and stocking merchandise throughout the store.
    • Assist with maintaining back stock levels and ensuring accurate inventory management.
    • Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness, and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room, and outdoor merchandise area.
    • Assist with providing a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and ad merchandise.
    • Assist with merchandise resets throughout the store.
    • Provide assistance to Department Specialists, such as price changes and special orders.
    • Ensure signage is current throughout the store.
    • Operate a forklift with proper training.
    • Communicate any Store Support Center issues to General Manager for follow-up.
    • Communicate any merchandising, cost control, or sales ideas to General Manager.
    • Participate in store meetings and contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
    • Be professional in appearance and actions, and perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School or GED equivalent.
  • Formal retail experience preferred.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25lbs), and climb.
