Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Director of Exam Accommodations and in accordance with ADA, Section 504, and Section 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973, this role oversees exam accommodations for qualified students with disabilities. Responsibilities include managing test administration, proctoring services, note-taking services, and other academic accommodations. The Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the proctoring of academic exams for students with approved accommodations, ensuring compliance and integrity within the testing program standards.

Work Schedule:

Available hours include:

Monday & Tuesday 1 pm-9 pm, Wednesday & Thursday 1 pm-10 pm; Friday 12 noon - 6 pm. When classes are not in session, the work schedule is Monday-Friday 10 am-6 pm.

Monday-Thursday 7:30 am-3:30 pm, Friday 8 am-4 pm. When classes are not in session, the work schedule is Monday-Friday 8 am-4 pm.

Some weekend hours may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all facets of exam administration, including scheduling exams with students and faculty, reserving facilities, coordinating proctor schedules, notifying professors of testing accommodations, verifying student information, preparing and distributing test materials, and ensuring a secure testing environment.
  • Maintains testing integrity while managing a high volume of exams daily, ensuring accuracy in individual testing accommodations and unique proctoring requirements. Acts as a liaison to faculty and university partners regarding testing matters.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises part-time staff who serve as note-takers, scribes, exam proctors, and sign-language interpreters (approximately 175 part-time employees are engaged each semester). Establishes work schedules and manages performance and attendance issues.
  • Provides functional and procedural supervision, including mentoring and training of the Assistant Manager of Exam Accommodations.
  • Collaborates with faculty and university partners to ensure effective accommodations for students with disabilities. In partnership with Disability Services staff, manages ongoing student disability-related needs and maintains accurate student records.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of accommodations and the processes governing their provision. Recommends policies and procedures for the enhancement of testing activities and updates related documentation.
  • Compiles reports and analyzes data regarding accommodations, including costs, utilization, and efficiency. Manages electronic database systems to ensure effective coordination and oversight of all accommodations and related processes.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience in postsecondary academic accommodations and auxiliary services is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and demanding environment focused on providing high-quality services to students with disabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a proven ability to manage complex processes and work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from various disciplines.
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills required.
  • Supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to hire, train, and manage student employees.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Must maintain confidentiality with sensitive university data.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a testing center, particularly within higher education or similar environments, is strongly preferred.
  • Professional experience working with students with disabilities in an educational or comparable institutional setting.
