CLOUD SERVICES OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

We are currently in search of a proactive and team-oriented Cloud Services Operations Specialist to support the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Continuous Diagnostic & Mitigation (CDM) Data Services Program. This program plays a vital role in CISA's national initiative to enhance the security and resilience of cyberspace.


The mission of the CDM Data Services Program is to establish a standardized framework for collecting, transforming, and integrating cybersecurity data from authoritative sources into a cohesive dataset. This information is then utilized to provide actionable insights to Agency and Federal Dashboards, helping to identify risk areas and facilitating coordinated responses to cyber threats.


This position is remote, allowing candidates to work from any location within the United States, provided they can align with an eastern time zone schedule.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver operational technical support for a cloud-based, multi-vendor, multi-tenant data aggregation and analytics solution.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and address performance issues and security incidents using established tools, escalating to engineering support as necessary.
  • Support the overall operations, maintenance, and health of the CDM integration layer and dashboard platform environment.
  • Manage and oversee performance and security monitoring tools, responding to alerts and warning conditions.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering to conduct root cause analyses (RCAs), update tickets, and resolve issues within established performance SLAs.
  • Adhere to documented methods, practices, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure effective and professional operations support.
  • Participate in shift-transition calls to ensure all open tickets and tasks are managed appropriately.
  • Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support.
  • Maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data across physical and logical solution boundaries in multi-Agency environments.
  • Coordinate with government engineering resources and OEMs for tool and sensor software and hardware updates.
  • Understand and monitor operations processes, including Business Continuity Planning and Incident Response Planning.
  • Implement effective controls and processes to maintain a robust organizational and system security posture.
  • Identify gaps and bottlenecks in data presentation and reporting, addressing issues related to performance and scalability.
  • Maintain accountability for assigned issues and support tickets.

Education and Certifications Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline (e.g., computer science, data science, engineering, applied mathematics) or equivalent experience.

Desired Certifications

  • Cloud platform certifications (AWS Practitioner / SysOps Admin, Azure Fundamentals / Admin)
  • Security certification such as Security+

Qualifications Required

  • 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch and Kibana or similar data aggregation and analytics platforms.
  • Experience with automated monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Azure Sentinel, Zabbix, Nagios, Datadog, etc.
  • Understanding of containerized PaaS platforms and IaaS hosted platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions.
  • Knowledge of REST API authentication types and methods.
  • Basic understanding of API calls and familiarity with CI/CD processes.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Proficient in Linux operating systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Clearance Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen and able to pass a background investigation.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DHS Suitability/Entry on Duty (EOD).
