Aquatics Lifeguard Job Summary

The Salvation Army Central Territory is seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious Aquatics Lifeguard to join our team at the Omaha Kroc Center. As a key member of our aquatics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our pool patrons and maintaining a safe environment in the aquatics area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations to provide a safe environment for all patrons.
  • Monitor pool areas and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Maintain certifications and documentation required by state and local regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service and promote a positive experience for all guests.
  • Assist with cleaning, maintenance, and inventory management of the aquatics area.
  • Participate in community events and outreach to promote the Kroc Center.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • At least 6 months of experience in lifeguarding or monitoring pool facilities.
  • Experience working with adults, youth, and children.
  • Working knowledge of general safety guidelines in an aquatics environment.
Qualifications:
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • English proficiency required; Spanish language skills helpful.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Exceptional flexibility and ability to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate and work within a team.
  • Attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
  • Strong independent judgment.
Certifications and Licenses:
  • Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/AED/First Aid) certification required and must be maintained on a yearly basis.
  • Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 30 days of hire as established by The Salvation Army.
  • A current Lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to swim and meet all physical capabilities required of a certified lifeguard.
  • Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability.
  • Excellent manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds occasionally.
