Swim Instructor Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified and passionate Swim Instructor to join our team at the YMCA of the Roses.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is enthusiastic about teaching swimming lessons and making a positive impact on our community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality swim instruction to individuals of all ages and skill levels, while maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructing swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines, following lesson plans provided for each class level.
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with program participants and parents/caregivers while supporting them in achieving their goals.
  • Relaying information regarding participants' progress as well as other programs to parents/caregivers, when appropriate, while maintaining a friendly and warm atmosphere.
  • Maintaining records as required (e.g., attendance, parent handbooks, certificates).
  • Following all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completing incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Attending staff meetings and in-service trainings when requested.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • A strong passion for teaching swimming and working with children/adults.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  • Mandated Reporter Clearance.
