We're looking for an Industrial Designer to help shape the future of robotics at Apptronik. As a multidisciplinary team member, you'll collaborate with departments across the organization to set a precedent for what a humanoid robot should be, who it should serve and execute on a collective vision.

Our robots are designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools, working alongside humans, mobilizing to human spaces, and manipulating the world around it. We value passion, creativity, and collaboration to help us overcome existing technological barriers in the industry to create truly innovative products.

This is a unique opportunity to join a growing design team and contribute to the development of state-of-the-art general-purpose robots. You'll have the chance to work on complex electromechanical products and develop concepts into refined CAD design data. Additionally, you'll collaborate with engineering departments to iterate on and validate design concepts and offer creative solutions to complex problems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing tasteful, innovative, and user-centric designs. They will also possess excellent concept generation and ideation skills, proficiency in CAD software such as Fusion, Alias, Solidworks or equivalent, and strong 3D rendering skills in tools like Keyshot, Blender, Unreal Engine or equivalent. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and their implications on design is essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Concept generation and ideation through 2D or 3D sketching, modeling, and rendering.
  • Developing concepts into refined CAD design data.
  • Collaborating with engineering departments to iterate on and validate design concepts.
  • Offering creative solutions to complex problems and adding refinement to tightly constrained structural components.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or equivalent field of study.
  • 7+ years of Industrial/Product Design experience, ideally within the manufacturing or robotics industry.
  • Proven experience in industrial design with a strong portfolio showcasing tasteful, innovative, and user-centric designs.
  • Excellent concept generation and ideation skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Fusion, Alias, Solidworks or equivalent.
  • Strong 3D rendering skills in tools like Keyshot, Blender, Unreal Engine or equivalent.

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience. Benefits include competitive salary with benefits, highly motivating equity incentive package, optional hybrid work schedule, flexible working hours policy, professional development opportunities, open paid time off (PTO), and a 401K plan.
