Compensation: $85,000 - $110,000 per year

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Software Engineer Autonomy to join our team. As a key member of our robotics development group, you will be responsible for designing and implementing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots capable of operating in human spaces and with human tools.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, machine learning, and robotics. You should be proficient in C++ and Python, with experience working in a Linux development environment. Familiarity with modern software tools/libraries relevant to robotics autonomy and task planning is also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement algorithms for control, planning, perception, and autonomy for humanoid robotics.
  • Develop and integrate large language models (LLMs) and task planning to support dynamic instruction parsing, context-driven behavior modifications, and real-time task sequencing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust and efficient software solutions.
  • Familiarity with robot frameworks such as ROS, Ignition Gazebo, Pinocchio, MuJuCo, OMPL, MoveIt, etc.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, particularly in reinforcement learning, LLMs, task planning, or skill chaining for autonomous robotics.
  • Strong theoretical understanding in dynamics, control systems, estimation, reinforcement learning, behavior trees, or natural language processing as it relates to task planning in autonomous robots.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience developing and debugging real-time, multithreaded software systems.
  • Experience implementing model-based feedback control of articulated robots and troubleshooting hardware.
  • Experience with modeling dynamic systems, system identification, and optimization solvers.
