Speech Therapist Job Description

Athena Health Care Systems is seeking a skilled Speech Therapist to join our team at Lanessa Extended Care in Webster, MA.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Speech Therapist to provide patient/resident assessment, care planning, direct treatment, and consultation to a general rehab caseload. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in speech therapy and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients/residents and develop appropriate care plans.
  • Provide direct resident treatments in accordance with an established plan of care.
  • Consult with and train patients/residents and caregivers.
  • Monitor efficiencies on an ongoing basis in collaboration with supervisor.
  • Document activities according to the company's clinical documentation system on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrate consistent knowledge and application of Medicare and other reimbursement regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, residents, team members, customers, and supervisor.
  • Participate in clinical program development and implementation.
  • Participate in the training and orientation of other staff.
  • Demonstrate ability for continuous new learning to remain current in the field.
  • Comply with facility Privacy Practices policies and procedures and protect residents' individual health information.

Requirements:

  • Ability to function effectively in multi-faceted systems and to interact effectively with all levels of staff and customers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Standing and walking for significant amounts of time is necessary.
  • Excellent hearing and verbal skills required for directing staff, customer relations, and marketing activities.
  • Manual dexterity required for documentation needs, manipulations of equipment, and for direct patient care.
  • Requires intense attention and concentration.
  • Ability to cope with periodic stress associated with changing census and staffing demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively for self and others.
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of personality types, ages, and diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to articulate and comprehend the English language.
