About the Job

Athena Health Care Systems is seeking a skilled Speech Therapist to join our team at Lanessa Extended Care in Webster, MA. As a Speech Therapist, you will provide patient/resident assessment, care planning, direct treatment, and consultation to a general rehab caseload. You will participate in the clinical team process, provide teaching and training to care giver staff, and supervise other assistants, aides, and students as required.

Responsibilities
  • Screens patients/residents and evaluates them to develop appropriate care plans.
  • Provides direct resident treatments in accordance with an established plan of care, under a physician's order.
  • Contributes to the team meeting and decision-making process as defined by the program.
  • Consults with and trains patients/residents and caregivers.
  • Monitors efficiencies on an ongoing basis in collaboration with supervisor.
  • Documents activities according to the company's clinical documentation system on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrates consistent knowledge and application of Medicare and other reimbursement regulations.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, residents, team members, customers, and supervisor.
  • Participates in clinical program development and implementation.
  • Participates in the training and orientation of other staff.
  • Demonstrates ability for continuous new learning to remain current in the field.
  • Complies with facility Privacy Practices policies and procedures and protects residents' individual health information.
  • May perform additional duties as requested by supervisor.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities.
Requirements
  • Ability to function effectively in multi-faceted systems and to interact effectively with all levels of staff and customers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Standing and walking for significant amounts of time is necessary.
  • Excellent hearing and verbal skills required for directing staff, customer relations, and marketing activities.
  • Manual dexterity required for documentation needs, manipulations of equipment, and for direct patient care.
  • Requires intense attention and concentration.
  • Ability to cope with periodic stress associated with changing census and staffing demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively for self and others.
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of personality types, ages, and diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to articulate and comprehend the English language.
