Our exhibits and programs cater to diverse learning styles, equipping parents with the tools to support their children's development. CMOM focuses on key areas such as early childhood education, creativity, health, and global cultures. Established in 1973, CMOM has evolved into a cherished resource for families and educators, attracting visitors from around the globe.
POSITION SUMMARY:
CMOM is seeking enthusiastic and imaginative individuals to serve as Public Programs Experience Facilitators. In this role, you will guide young learners and their families through interactive exhibit experiences, fostering engagement in various disciplines, including visual arts, movement, music, early science, literacy, and cultural studies. Our facilitators are compassionate and nurturing, helping children discover their unique strengths while cultivating a love for learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate a range of drop-in programs and activities, such as art creation, storytelling, and guided play, alongside movement-based activities for families and children;
- Support the maintenance and organization of exhibition spaces, ensuring all materials are in order;
- Assist in the planning and preparation of upcoming family-oriented programs;
- Create an inviting atmosphere for families by welcoming children and caregivers, guiding them through activities, and providing necessary materials and information;
- Collaborate with the Museum Clean Team to ensure cleanliness and safety in program areas and exhibit spaces.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with young children and families in educational settings, such as museums, preschools, or recreational programs;
- A passion for learning and a commitment to developing skills in arts education, early childhood development, and S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math);
- Ability to connect with children and families from diverse backgrounds;
- Strong initiative and creative problem-solving skills;
- Experience in dynamic environments and adaptability to change;
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to communicate educational content effectively;
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively with a team;
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift items up to 30 pounds.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Background in inquiry-based teaching and storytelling;
- Fluency in Spanish or another language is advantageous;
- Experience in performing or visual arts;
- Knowledge in early childhood education or development;
- Experience with children with special needs is a plus;
- Undergraduate degree in arts education or early childhood education is preferred.
WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- Availability for 3-4 days per week, including weekends;
- Willingness to work during holidays;
- Participation in orientation and professional development sessions as scheduled.
COMPENSATION:
Hourly wage: $19.25/hour, non-exempt.
