About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at American Water. As a key member of our Capital Program Management team, you will be responsible for providing financial analysis and support to ensure the successful execution of our capital projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and consolidate the 5-Year Capital Business Plan and Quarterly Reforecasts, ensuring all financial information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Lead monthly reviews of the Enterprise Capital Budget and Capital Program Management meetings, providing financial insights and recommendations.
  • Design and develop training programs for Project Managers on financial aspects and system usage, including PowerPlan, SAP, and eBuilder.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, yearly, and ad hoc capital reporting using PowerPlan and SAP, and other tools for internal and external purposes.
  • Serve as primary liaison between Engineering/Capital and Accounting, Finance, Rates, Tax, and Utility Plant Accounting on all Capital Program Management topics.
  • Provide support on Enterprise-Wide projects and initiatives related to Capital Program Management, including policy development and software tool selection.
Requirements
  • Five to seven years of experience in financial analysis, preferably in a utility or engineering-related field.
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, finance, or engineering (water and/or wastewater related).
Competencies
  • Strong financial analysis and reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently on complex projects.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PowerPlan, SAP, and eBuilder.
