Key Responsibilities

This role involves implementing nutrition interventions, providing nutrition counseling, delivering educational sessions, and documenting nutrition care plans. You will also participate in quality improvement initiatives under the guidance of a registered dietitian. Additional responsibilities include screening new admissions, conducting meal rounds, calculating calorie counts, and verifying tray line accuracy. A solid understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan is essential.

The ability to assess patient data and interpret information relative to age-specific needs is crucial.

Proficiency in computer skills is required for daily operations.

Qualifications

Enrollment in or completion of:

An accredited Dietetic Technology Consortium Program or an approved Nutrition or Dietetics Bachelor's Program through the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) is necessary. Candidates must pass the national registration examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) within one year of hire. Ongoing professional education is required to maintain registration. Strong interpersonal skills and a comprehensive understanding of special diets, acquired through coursework or practical experience, are essential.

Certification as a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics must be obtained within one year of accepting the position.
