About the Role

Kapur & Associates, a leading consulting engineering firm, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Utility Construction Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and reviewing construction activities related to utility adjustments, relocations, and new installations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utility Coordination: Serve as the local utility representative in the field during construction, coordinating all activities related to utility construction, relocation, or conflicts with utility facilities.
  • Project Management: Lead or facilitate meetings involving utility construction, including attendance at all preconstruction meetings.
  • Compliance and Certification: Ensure WisDOT and municipal requirements for utility coordination, utility certification, and traffic control are met.
  • Utility Submittals and Responses: Coordinate and track utility submittals and responses.
  • Design Plan Review: Review design plans and prepare utility conflict analysis.
  • Utility Work Plans: Review Utility Work Plans and recommend for approval.
  • Cost Estimation and Scheduling: Prepare and review cost estimates, schedules, prior rights determinations, and agreements for relocation.
  • Client Engagement: Provide excellent, clear, and concise oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings and resources.
  • Design Collaboration: Work directly with designers to ensure that utility facilities are being installed per plan on municipal and WisDOT projects.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • WisDOT Policy and Standards: Thorough understanding of WisDOT's Utility Accommodation Policy and Standards.
  • Utility Knowledge: Ability to learn electric and gas systems and their components.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving and Attention to Detail: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Fieldwork and Site Visits: Fieldwork and site visits required.
  • Office Location: Ability to work within both Kapur Madison office and client office in downtown Madison.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 5 or more years of experience in utility coordination, construction management, or related fields.
  • Personal Vehicle and Driver's License: Personal vehicle and valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Utility Coordination Experience: Experience with utility coordination on WisDOT or municipality projects.
  • Utility Knowledge: Knowledge of electrical and gas systems and their components.
  • Environmental Implications: Understanding environmental implications of construction projects.
  • Buy America Requirements: Knowledge of Buy America requirements.
