Ultrasound Sonographer

We are seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Sonographer to join our team at Good Shepherd Health Care. As a key member of our medical staff, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic procedures using ultrasound technology to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Key Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including detailed anatomy, multiples, twin to twin checks, and fetal dopplers
- Corroborate patient clinical history with procedure, ensuring accurate documentation and availability for licensed practitioners
- Prepare patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results and minimize anxiety
- Select and operate ultrasound equipment, and associated devices to achieve desired results
- Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic areas of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort
- Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examination
- Determine ultrasonic frequencies and appropriate transducers for anatomic areas of interest
- Evaluate images for technical quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded
- Verify informed consent for, and assist licensed practitioners with, interventional procedures
- Practice aseptic techniques as necessary
- Assume responsibility for provision of physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures
- Initiate basic life support action when necessary
- Maintain knowledge of and observe Universal precautions
- Provide patient education
- Assist in maintaining records, respecting confidentiality and established policy
- Assume responsibility for assigned area and report equipment malfunction
- Provide input for equipment purchase and supply decisions
- Provide practical instruction for students and/or other health care professionals
- Participate in the department's quality assessment and improvement plan
- Graduate of Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited sonography program or equivalent
- Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, or equivalent approved certification with current OB experience
- Licensed in the State of Oregon as Ultrasonographer or Radiologic Technologist/Sonographer
- MFM experience strongly encouraged, but not required
- Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred, ability to work with culturally diverse population
