About This Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk Management Specialist to join our Surety Division in the US. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for achieving profitable underwriting results while providing exceptional service to our clients.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting, with a focus on risk selection and management. You will work closely with our territory team to develop and implement business plans, ensuring alignment with company objectives. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining a solid understanding of our company's mission, vision, and values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwriting and Risk Management: Write and retain a profitable book of business through sound risk analysis, pricing, and servicing. Maintain compliance with state filings and adhere to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with the territory team, keeping peers and management informed of all issues and activity. Develop and implement the territory business plan, sharing accountability with the team in meeting territory goals.
  • Training and Development: Train territory staff and clients on underwriting appetite and protocols, adhering to corporate training guidelines. Act as a referral point for the territory underwriting staff within Home Office authority grant.
  • Clients and Partnerships: Coach and collaborate with the team to develop, manage, and maintain outside client relationships, including traveling in the territory to meet with agents, producers, and nonprofit associations or organizations.
  • Industry Events: Plan and participate in industry events as required, such as agency or association conventions. Provide professional, timely, and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross-departmental staff to resolve issues pertaining to policyholders and territory producers.
  • Reporting and Database Management: Collaborate with the territory team on reports and updates databases as required. Assist in gathering and communicating competitive information, keeping current with market trends and demands.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: 5+ years of underwriting experience in insurance products, resulting in demonstrated technical knowledge of contract surety insurance coverage, risk selection, methods, and pricing. Bachelor's degree or commensurate work experience.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze data, making informed, calculated risk decisions. Ability to make sound contributions to tactical and strategic planning. Ability to train, coach, and mentor individuals of various backgrounds within the area of expertise. Respect for confidential information. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 25% of the time within the assigned territory and to the Home Office as required.
