Job Overview

The Water Safety Specialist role is a vital part of our Campus Recreation team, ensuring the safety of our patrons and participants in the aquatic facility.

Responsibilities

This position involves facility supervision and maintenance, including enforcing facility policies, maintaining certifications and physical fitness, and participating in in-service training sessions.

Additional responsibilities include educating guests on rules and regulations, following directions, removing safety hazards, completing records, and attending staff meetings.

Our Water Safety Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Supervising and maintaining the aquatic facility
  • Enforcing facility policies and procedures
  • Maintaining certifications and physical fitness
  • Participating in in-service training sessions
  • Communicating with peers and faculty/staff
  • Attending staff meetings and training sessions
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certified with CPR/AED for the professional rescuer or YMCA Lifeguard Certified with ASHI CPR/AED for the professional and Standard First Aid

Bloodborne Pathogens and Administering Emergency Oxygen Certifications are highly recommended.

A Water Safety Instructor or equivalent certification is a plus.

You will also need to undergo a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
