Job Overview The field of systems engineering is a multifaceted engineering discipline that focuses on a holistic approach, mindset, and methodology. It encompasses all activities that address both the business and technical requirements of clients, aiming to deliver a high-quality product that satisfies user expectations. This discipline involves a thorough process of design, creation, and enhancement of systems, which includes identifying and quantifying system requirements, developing alternative design concepts, conducting design trade studies, selecting and implementing optimal designs, and ensuring proper integration and execution of the design. The process spans from initial concept through production to operational use.
This role influences methodologies, projects, and programs within the functional area or impacted business organization, as well as operational practices. It affects the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the team. The position carries significant input into priority setting and is guided by professional standards and policies relevant to the role. The role operates with moderate autonomy, necessitating high levels of operational judgment. Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Oversees the integration of components and products, managing activities that involve multiple components and products to maximize performance and functionality. Responsible for product and system requirements, specifications, and their dissemination. Leads validation and verification efforts for the overall product/system, including system-level testing. Defines product requirements for modules, components, subcontractors, and partner teams. Manages interfaces between components and execution teams.
    Facilitates critical-to-quality (CTQ) and risk assessments within design teams. Oversees product configuration and the configuration control system.
  • Develops specialized expertise in their field. Acts as a resource for best practices and quality assurance. Maintains awareness of the latest technical advancements in their area. Contributes to strategic and policy development, ensuring effective delivery within their scope of responsibility.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of best practices and understands how their area interacts with others; has insight into competitive dynamics and differentiating factors in the market.
  • Utilizes judgment to make decisions or address moderately complex challenges in operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Offers new perspectives on existing solutions. Applies technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support informed recommendations. Draws from multiple internal and limited external sources outside their function to make decisions.
  • Serves as a mentor for less experienced colleagues. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource demands. Communicates complex or sensitive information effectively; works towards consensus-building. Developing persuasive skills necessary to influence others on relevant topics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering.

Preferred Attributes

  • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities.
  • Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading programs/projects.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs effectively.
  • Established project management expertise.

This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will depend on the ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
