- Client Education and Support: Educate clients on preventative care, wellness programs, and disease management. Assist clients in understanding their pets' medical needs and provide support in making informed decisions about their pets' care.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to clients, ensuring a positive experience at our hospital. Greet clients, escort them to exam rooms, and ensure a smooth transition to the front desk.
- Animal Handling and Care: Safely and humanely restrain animals for examination and treatment. Assist veterinarians in medical, surgical, and dental procedures. Prepare patients for surgery, administer anesthesia, and monitor patients during recovery.
- Facility and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff. Ensure all surgical materials, equipment, and inventory are properly stored and maintained.
- Record Keeping: Accurately and thoroughly document patient records, including procedures, vaccinations, and notes. Ensure all records are up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Pharmacy Assistance: Assist with dispensing medications as directed by veterinarians. Prepare prescription labels and package medication appropriately.
- Safety and Technical Skills: Follow DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines. Administer SQ, IM, and IV injections. Perform laboratory tests, radiographs, and electrocardiograms. Place IV catheters and perform emergency treatments as needed.
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) Certification
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately
- Knowledge of common disease states and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions
- Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines
