Position Summary:

The Clinical Counselor will deliver personalized counseling services to individuals and their families facing behavioral challenges within the foster care system. This role includes conducting intake evaluations, managing cases, providing referrals, and implementing intervention strategies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and sustain a manageable caseload.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all client information and records.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients.
  • Create and review service plans throughout the treatment process.

Job Duties:

  • Provide individual counseling sessions for foster children and their caregivers.
  • Maintain treatment documentation in compliance with agency policies and relevant regulations.
  • Develop, execute, and revise individualized treatment plans based on client input.
  • Track the progress of clients in their treatment journey.
  • Ensure the quality and suitability of treatment to meet each client's unique needs through collaborative agency discussions.
  • Make appropriate referrals as necessary.
  • Prepare transition plans for clients.
  • Inform clients about local support groups and encourage their involvement.
  • Offer crisis intervention when required.
  • Keep fellow clinicians updated on the treatment progress of clients.
  • Assist colleagues in ensuring the safety and well-being of all clients within the facility.
  • Participate in on-call duties as needed.
  • Conduct peer and Medicaid reviews of clinical documentation.
  • Engage in regular clinical supervision as mandated by certification or licensure requirements.
  • Adhere to all state, federal, and agency regulations regarding confidentiality and ethical practices.
  • Implement evidence-based practices consistently.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive understanding of treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and families, with the ability to deliver evidence-based practices effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Required credentials include LPC, LMFT, LISW-CP, or LPC-A, LMSW, LMFT-A under supervision.
  • Preferred experience includes at least one year in a counseling role.
  • Experience working with Medicaid clients is advantageous.
  • Must successfully pass standard background checks, including drug screening and various registries.
  • Alignment with the belief system and faith practices of the United Methodist Church is necessary.
