Diesel Mechanic Technician

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Scrap Management Industries. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of large production machinery, including heavy mobile equipment and diesel-powered trucks.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Evaluate and repair any truck or piece of equipment that is not in good working order.
- Clean and maintain machines and machine parts, including removing and reinstalling parts as necessary.
- Oil and lubricate moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
- Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts and document accordingly.
- Order and install replacement parts for machines.
- Identify the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines and repair them quickly and efficiently.
- Prepare reports documenting work performed.
- Clean, organize, and maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Communicate daily with management about any issues surrounding work building and/or equipment.
- Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
- Experience working on and troubleshooting issues with both heavy mobile equipment and diesel-powered trucks.
- Thorough understanding of DOT regulations.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
- Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, required.
- Bilingual preferred, not required.
- Current CDL license a plus.
- Mobile equipment operating experience a plus.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
- Must be able to visually inspect machines.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
