Job Summary:

The Field Mechanic will provide maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of various types of mobile heavy equipment in locations throughout Montana.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work under the supervision of a Project Superintendent to maintain, diagnose, and repair mobile heavy equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and identify equipment malfunctions or maintenance repairs.
  • Provide professional advice to operators concerning issues with equipment operations.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and Project Superintendent to ensure equipment is properly maintained and repaired.
  • Respond to and address nonfunctional equipment outside of regular working hours as necessary.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Tune and configure equipment for optimal utilization and efficiency.
  • Accurately complete maintenance logs and reports.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and culture.
  • Travel to outlying areas and may be required to stay overnight.
  • Submit all paperwork in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • A Class A Commercial driver's license with a Tanker and Hazardous Material endorsement is preferred, with training provided for non-CDL holders.
  • Display an uncompromising focus on safety by following company policies and MSHA/DOT/DEQ regulations.
  • Exhibit a professional and courteous attitude towards colleagues, supervisors, and the public.
  • Be willing to work in a team environment and assist colleagues or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Require minimal supervision.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Have an uncompromising focus on safety by following company policies and MSHA/DOT/DEQ regulations.

  • Be willing to work in a team environment and assist colleagues or supervisors with other duties as required.

Physical and Work Demands:

Requires repetitive movement, bending or twisting, and using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms, possibly for extended periods standing.

Must be willing to travel in Montana and work out of town.
