Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Procedure Preparation
    • Review patient medical history, doctor's orders, and previous imaging studies to ensure accurate MRI procedures.
    • Explain the procedure to patients, addressing any questions or concerns to minimize anxiety.
    • Complete necessary documentation, including informed consent forms and patient information.
    • Verify patient identity and screening criteria to ensure safety.
    • Prepare and position the MRI room for optimal performance.
  • Conducting MRI Scans
    • Operate MRI machines, adjusting settings as needed to obtain high-quality images.
    • Position patients safely and comfortably on the MRI table.
    • Administer contrast agents as prescribed by physicians, monitoring patients for adverse reactions.
    • Ensure patient stillness during scans for clear, high-resolution images.
    • Monitor the scanning process, making adjustments as necessary to achieve optimal results.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort
    • Ensure patient safety during MRI procedures, particularly regarding strong magnetic fields.
    • Keep patients informed and reassured during scans.
    • Monitor patients' conditions, including vital signs, during scans.
    • Position patients correctly to avoid injuries or discomfort.
  • Post-Procedure Care
    • Assist patients off the MRI table after procedures.
    • Provide post-procedure instructions, including follow-up treatments and aftercare guidance.
    • Schedule required post-scan imaging or additional scans as necessary.
    • Address immediate concerns or side effects experienced by patients.
  • Maintenance and Equipment Care
    • Regularly calibrate and maintain MRI machines, performing basic troubleshooting when necessary.
    • Clean and disinfect the MRI suite and equipment between patients.
    • Monitor equipment performance, identifying malfunctions or issues, and alerting staff for repairs or servicing.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team
    • Communicate effectively with physicians, radiologists, and other medical staff.
    • Work with healthcare professionals to review images, assess patient needs, and discuss patient conditions.
    • Collaborate with radiologists to ensure final images meet diagnostic standards and are transmitted accurately.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping
    • Document patient information and scan results in the electronic health record (EHR).
    • Ensure accurate labeling and uploading of imaging data into the system.
    • Maintain logs of equipment usage, maintenance, and issues encountered during procedures.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week, plus tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
