Job Summary

The Medical Technologist apprentice at Maine Medical Center works under the guidance of certified trainers to develop clinical skills and knowledge in various laboratory areas.

Training includes direct instruction in pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic skills, as well as comprehensive mentoring in clinical foundation areas such as chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, immunohematology, hematology, and microbiology.

Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree in science or life sciences, or a degree with a minimum of 32 credit hours of science or life sciences.
  • ASCP Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist within 6 months of completing all CLT program requirements.
  • Some laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work any shift, holiday, and/or weekend as needed.
  • Travel among company sites may be required.
