Job Summary

New England Cancer Specialists is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in Scarborough, Maine. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing serological, biochemical, and hematological laboratory examinations and tests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood and other biological specimens for testing and perform venipuncture using various techniques.
  • Perform waived to complex testing, quality controls, and review results to ensure accuracy.
  • Set up and operate medical laboratory equipment, maintain sterility, and calibrate instruments.
  • Use automated equipment and computerized instruments to perform multiple tests simultaneously.
  • Operate laboratory information systems, log data, and enter results into patient medical records.
  • Discuss test results with physicians and train medical laboratory technicians as needed.
  • Obtain continuing education credits and maintain a clean working environment in the lab area.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Laboratory Sciences, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Successful completion of board entrance examination and licensing by a laboratory certifying agency.
  • Sound judgment, independent decision-making skills, and ability to recognize when to seek guidance.
  • Organized, able to plan and prioritize workloads, and perform mathematical calculations.
  • Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new skills.
