Role Overview:

As a Tax Senior Accountant at Combe Incorporated, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the financial stability and compliance of our diverse multinational and multistate corporate structure. Working closely with the Senior Tax Director and our external CPA firm, you will be instrumental in preparing tax returns, developing income tax provisions, and ensuring the precision and reliability of our financial reports. Additionally, you will manage tax disputes, create strategic tax planning initiatives, and provide essential tax insights to various departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and evaluate income tax provisions, focusing on book/tax variances, deferred tax balances, and uncertain tax positions.
  • Complete federal, state, and local tax returns, along with international income tax returns.
  • Oversee annual extensions and estimated tax payments, ensuring precise accounting practices.
  • Review various informational returns and reports, including forms 5471 and 1042.
  • Assist in managing tax fixed and intangible assets, including analysis of tax depreciation and amortization.
  • Coordinate the US Research Tax Credit study and state tax apportionment data.
  • Address tax authority notices and audits, conducting research and preparing responses.
  • Investigate and document technical tax issues related to compliance and reporting.
  • Engage in special projects, including tax planning and M&A analysis.
Qualifications:

Technical Skills:
  • Comprehensive understanding of U.S. GAAP and tax accounting principles.
  • Expertise in preparing and analyzing income tax provisions and tax returns.
  • Familiarity with tax technology tools, particularly Oracle EPM-TRCS.
Interpersonal Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on accuracy in tax documentation.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree in Taxation is a plus.
  • Several years of experience in tax accounting, ideally within a multinational context.
  • Experience in managing tax fixed and intangible assets.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is highly preferred.
  • Background in tax planning and M&A analysis is advantageous.
