Job Summary

The Clinical Support Technician II plays a vital role in the delivery of patient care in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at UNC Medical Center. This position requires a unique blend of clinical and administrative skills, with a focus on providing exceptional support to patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
  • Provide critical review of patient care documentation, identifying and reporting any significant changes in patient condition to registered nurses or physicians.
  • Perform a variety of clerical tasks, including organizing and prioritizing workload, greeting and directing visitors, and maintaining medical records.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support, including PI audits and data entry, to ensure seamless unit operations.
  • Assist with clinical support tasks, such as cleaning the work area, maintaining office equipment, and troubleshooting common software and hardware problems.
  • Provide direct personal care to patients, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation, as outlined in the plan of care.
  • Measure and record vital signs, patient height and weight, and perform other clinical tasks as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Listed as Nursing Assistant II with the North Carolina Board of Nursing
  • Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • One (1) year of clerical or customer service experience and six (6) months of related nursing assistant experience
Work Environment

This is a 36-hour per week position, working 12-hour rotating shifts with weekend and holiday rotation. The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is a dynamic and fast-paced environment, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
