Plasma Processing Specialist

CSL Plasma is seeking a highly skilled Plasma Processing Technician to join our team. As a key member of our plasma collection team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors.
Main Responsibilities- Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality, in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs, which may include unsuitable plasma units and samples.
- Verify the accuracy of unit labeling by checking the pre-printed label against the dynamic label.
- Utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use a heat sealer to ensure the sterility and quality of plasma unit samples, as per SOPs.
- Pack and ship samples and units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures, preparing shipping and unit disposal documentation.
- Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOP, resolving any calibration issues that may arise.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures, creating incident documentation and removing or replacing equipment from service as needed.
- Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures, immediately informing relevant personnel if equipment is not functioning properly, and recording any variances.
- Respond to and resolve freezer and/or refrigerator alarms.
- Provide guidance and technical training to Processing Technicians and other staff, as required.
- Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system, as outlined in SOPs.
- Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center, if applicable.
- Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed.
- Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures, promoting safety in all actions.
- Conduct routine audits of internal procedures and documentation, as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- Be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business, as required.
- May be required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of three (3) months' work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to understand, remember, and communicate routine, factual information.
- Ability to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
- Ability to occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
- Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to frequently be exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and to blood-borne pathogens.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
