Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at the University of California, Irvine.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching lower-division Spanish language courses, including Beginning Spanish, Intermediate Spanish, and Advanced Spanish writing courses, in a hybrid format that combines face-to-face and asynchronous instruction.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Spanish language courses to undergraduate students
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with departmental goals and standards
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to departmental initiatives
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, applicants must have a Ph.D. or M.A. in Spanish, applied linguistics, or a related field, with native or near-native language competence in Spanish and English.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching Spanish language and knowledge in areas such as second language learning and pedagogy, heritage language pedagogy, task-based language teaching, and technology-mediated language learning are highly desirable.
