Position Overview

Peraton is seeking a Facilities Operations/Controls Engineer to contribute to our efforts in supporting advanced engineering and research initiatives. This role involves providing comprehensive engineering services to enhance and maintain facilities effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver system software engineering for both new and existing subsystems, identifying software requirements for Operator Consoles, including program development and alarm management.
  • Engage in controls engineering for the design and support of maintenance and infrastructure enhancement projects related to the Institutional Monitoring Control System (IMCS).
  • Assist in daily operations of systems, troubleshooting and conducting field investigations as necessary.
  • Conduct engineering analyses and studies to address system issues, perform failure analyses, and develop solutions.
  • Execute periodic assessments of system conditions, hazard analyses, and reliability studies.
  • Collaborate with system managers, operators, and field technicians to optimize system performance.
  • Support system startups, including the development of Integrated System Test (IST) plans and verification of operational check sheets.
  • Assist system administrators with IT security assessment activities.
  • Contribute to Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) activities, including setting monitoring points and generating reports.
  • Participate in technical discussions to address performance issues, develop corrective action procedures, and recommend modifications.
  • Document all technical procedures related to assigned tasks.
  • Oversee electrical construction activities in the field.
Qualifications

Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Systems Engineering or Engineering Technology with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or 9+ years of applicable experience without a degree.
  • 5-7 years of experience in engineering facility systems and controls.
  • Familiarity with building automation controls, including HVAC system operations and lighting controls.
  • Experience with chiller plant controls and cooling tower systems.
  • Knowledge of building operations, alarm management, and scheduling.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD design software (current version is AutoCAD 2019).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a government background investigation.
Desired Experience:
  • Programming skills related to distributed control systems.
  • Experience with Siemens Insight and Desigo design and programming.
  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley Control Systems and their integration with Siemens.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience across multiple engineering disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical, and System Software Controls.
