Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Health Supervisor to join our team at Genesee County, Michigan. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and implementation of public health programs, as well as supervising and training subordinate employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise staff in the delivery of public health programs
  • Plan for area and program needs, and communicate with the Division Director
  • Compile and interpret statistics on public health needs of the community
  • Stay up-to-date on State laws, local ordinances, county procedures, and policies related to public health activities
  • Monitor and evaluate the status of all programs, and prepare necessary reports
  • Participate in the preparation of program budgets and review of expenditure reports
  • Makes presentations and meets with outside groups and organizations regarding programs and public health concerns
  • Prepares newspaper articles and other information for dissemination to the public
  • Provides input into program goals, projected outputs, and is responsible for supervising staff to meet these goals
  • Provides input into policies and procedures and public health programs
Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of public health nursing, public health programs, and public health sciences
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of public health programs
  • Thorough knowledge of State and local law, rules, and regulations relating to assigned program(s)
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
  • Ability to supervise and train subordinate employees
  • Ability to direct and coordinate the activities of others
  • Ability to work with officials, other agencies, employees, and the general public
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and respectfully in a complex, multicultural work environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to attend work regularly and work under stressful conditions
