Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Sales Associate to join our team at Great Lakes Ace Hardware in Waterford, MI. As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, generating sales, and maintaining a high level of product knowledge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide outstanding customer service, answering questions and assisting customers in finding products.
  • Generate sales by using the S.A.L.E.S. process to help customers find everything on their lists.
  • Complete all company and departmental paperwork accurately, including price change bulletins and inventory adjustments.
  • Receive, open, and unpack merchandise, checking paperwork against items received and replenishing stock as needed.
  • Display and maintain merchandise on end caps, shelves, counters, or tables, following company plan-ogram and building displays to attract customers and promote sales.
  • Maintain on-hand integrity through inventory adjustment reports, including cycle count and negative on-hand.
  • Follow the nightly maintenance checklist to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness.
  • Maintain familiarity with new products and ad merchandise, and have sound awareness of surroundings, customers, etc., and practice loss prevention techniques to minimize shoplifting losses.
  • Work effectively with colleagues and customers, communicating effectively and professionally.
Requirements
  • 6 months related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively with customers or associates.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with moderate noise levels. The associate may work near moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
