Position Overview:

Sierra Nevada Corporation is in search of a visionary and strategic leader to assume the role of Vice President of Technology. This pivotal position will spearhead groundbreaking advancements within the Mission Solutions Technology (MST) Business Area, focusing on three primary domains: Manned/Unmanned Aircraft Open Architecture Integration, Digital Grid Software Solutions, and Digital RF Electromagnetic Systems.

As a vital member of the executive leadership team, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Strategy, you will be instrumental in fostering innovation, enhancing technological capabilities, and overseeing a skilled team of professionals. Your responsibilities will include the formulation of a comprehensive innovation and technology development strategy for the MST business area at SNC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with essential stakeholders to design and implement strategic technological initiatives that boost business performance and secure a competitive edge.
  • Develop and execute a robust technology strategy that aligns with the company’s overarching objectives and market dynamics.
  • Identify and assess emerging technologies pertinent to aircraft integration, Electronic Warfare, Signals Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, AI/ML, Cryptographic Solutions, and Battlefield Network Communications Management.
  • Guide technology investments, partnerships, and acquisitions to strengthen our competitive stance.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Strategy and Technology divisions.
  • Oversee the development and evaluation of new technologies and methodologies to enhance or create innovative solutions.
  • Lead research and development initiatives to advance capabilities within our Digital Grid (as-a-service software), Digital RF, and Open Architecture Integration campaigns.
  • Encourage the adoption of state-of-the-art technologies and practices to elevate product performance and maintain technological leadership.
  • Manage Independent Research and Development (IR&D) projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and customer expectations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and operations, to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
  • Engage in customer-facing meetings, presentations, demonstrations, and exercises.
  • Conduct color team reviews and contribute to MST proposals.
  • Recruit, nurture, and retain top technical talent, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to enhance the skills and expertise of the technology team.
  • Establish performance metrics and objectives to assess team performance and drive ongoing improvement.
  • Support the Strategy and Business Development team in collaborating with key stakeholders, customers, and industry partners to understand their technology needs.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, offering technical expertise and thought leadership on defense technologies and solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (relevant experience may substitute for education).
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in technology strategy, innovation, and implementation with a high level of expertise.
  • Demonstrated leadership in technology organizations, particularly within the defense or aerospace sectors.
  • Extensive experience in developing technology and IRAD (Research and Development) roadmaps and successfully executing them.
  • Deep knowledge in Electronic Warfare, Signals Intelligence, Big Data Analysis, Cryptographic Solutions, and Battlefield Network Communications Management.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities, with the ability to translate technical vision into actionable plans.
  • Working knowledge of various technical matters supporting the exportability and technical determination of products and services.
  • Advanced understanding of disciplines such as business development, capture management, program management, and acquisition processes.
  • Ability to leverage insights from the organization’s internal and external business environment to enhance outcomes.
  • Proven ability to drive positive change through continuous improvement.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the capability to manage diverse teams.
  • Prior experience in leading teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in talent management, including recruiting and developing technical teams.
  • An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance with the potential to obtain a Top Secret clearance is required.
