Employee Benefits

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $28.87 (Union Position)

Job Responsibilities

The Maintenance Repairer is responsible for executing skilled and semi-skilled HVAC, building, and repair services to uphold the standards of public housing properties, administrative offices, and surrounding grounds. Key responsibilities include:

  • Installation and maintenance of HVAC systems, including air-conditioning, heating, and ventilation.
  • Repairing structural elements such as roofs, siding, and gutters.
  • Conducting preventative maintenance on appliances and HVAC equipment.
  • Addressing plumbing issues and performing repairs on fixtures.
  • Maintaining electrical systems, including switches and outlets.
  • Executing general repairs on doors, windows, and flooring.
  • Responding to emergency maintenance calls as part of an on-call schedule.
  • Documenting maintenance work and managing inventory of materials used.
  • Ensuring compliance with NSPIRE Standards in property maintenance.
  • Maintaining effective communication with residents and office staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of building trades, safety practices, and maintenance procedures.
  • Valid motor vehicle license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals.

Working Environment

  • Exposure to various weather conditions while performing duties.
  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects, up to 100 pounds.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks that require bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.

Equipment Utilization

Familiarity with various tools and equipment, including computers, telephones, and specialized maintenance equipment, is essential.
