Job Summary

The Staff Nurse position at University Hospital, Newark NJ, is a critical role that requires a skilled and compassionate Registered Professional Nurse. The primary purpose of this position is to provide high-quality patient care, ensuring the safety and well-being of assigned patients. This involves assessing, diagnosing, planning, and intervening in actual or potential health problems, as well as evaluating patient response to care.

Responsibilities

As a member of the designated care team, the Registered Professional Nurse collaborates, coordinates, and guides team members in planning patient care in a safe environment. This includes patient education and discharge planning, as well as mobilizing patients and preventing skin breakdown, falls, and other complications. The competent practice of the Professional Registered Nurse is evidenced by patient/family goal achievement, patient/family satisfaction, and thorough documentation in accordance with American Nurses Association Standards of Clinical Practice, Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Organization Standards Sentinel Event Alert Recommendation, Patient/Family Centered Principles, Department of Health Standards, and University Hospital Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey, with a minimum of one year of Adult Medical/Surgical experience within the past three years. BLS certification is required, and phlebotomy certification or IV certification is preferred. Proficiency in the English language is essential, and a BSN degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess effective interpersonal skills, the ability to organize care/activities of multiple patients, and employ problem-solving techniques and critical thinking.
