POSITION SUMMARY
The Procurement Specialist II plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to both internal stakeholders and external suppliers. This position is responsible for executing purchase orders, managing overdue reports, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. The specialist collaborates closely with production line operations and various departments to procure necessary commodities and goods that are essential for the manufacturing of heavy equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the acquisition of materials, supplies, and services required by the organization.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all procurement activities.
- Evaluate vendor quality and performance.
- Keep an updated database of supplier information.
- Coordinate logistics for goods transport and monitor order status to ensure punctual delivery.
- Interpret technical drawings and bills of materials (BOMs).
Essential Duties
- Process purchase requisitions or orders within the established purchasing authority.
- Address issues related to defective or unsatisfactory goods or services with relevant personnel to identify the root cause and implement corrective measures.
- Oversee shipments to confirm that products arrive on schedule and in acceptable condition; resolve any delivery issues promptly.
- Exhibit a positive company image through professional interactions with colleagues, customers, and management.
- Manage procurement activities for assigned categories and vendors.
- Engage proactively with Manufacturing, Engineering, and other departments to ensure alignment.
- Plan orders and delivery schedules to accommodate production changes and adhere to Just-In-Time (J.I.T) requirements.
- Distribute updated technical drawings to suppliers as necessary to fulfill orders.
- Digitally archive purchase orders and related documents daily.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the Department or Shift Lead.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree from a two-year college or a similar qualification from a technical institution.
- A four-year degree is preferred, along with relevant experience in purchasing components for heavy equipment production.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with Oracle or other modern ERP systems is preferred.
- Basic understanding of supply chain management principles in a manufacturing context.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and BOMs.
- Detail-oriented and adaptable to changing situations.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with vendors and supervisors, fostering teamwork and positive supplier relationships.
- Ability to maintain constructive working relationships with diverse personalities, collaborating effectively with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and lean methodologies.
- Efficient and accurate work habits to meet production demands.
- Flexible and capable of managing pressures and deadlines independently.
