About the Job

MU Health Care is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented surgical technologist to join our top-tier surgical team. As a surgical technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the operating room and providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities include anticipating the needs of the surgical team, assisting with the teaching of newly hired technologists and student technologists, and serving as a role model to new employees and other staff members. You will also be responsible for communicating effectively with patients, staff members, and physicians, and adhering to standards, including unit and hospital policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals.

Requirements
  • One (1) year of experience as a surgical technologist
  • Completion of an accredited surgical tech program, the MU Health Care Surgical Tech program, or military training may be substituted
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), (OR) Certified Operating Room Surgical Technician (CORST) certification by the National Health Career Association (NHA), or Technician in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) certification by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts, as well as holidays and work during inclement weather, will be required.
