Job Summary

The Surgical Tech-CVOR is a vital member of the surgical team, responsible for providing technical support in the care and preparation of patients undergoing Cardiovascular surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides technical assistance to surgical staff in the preparation of patients for surgery and in the preparation of CVOR equipment, instruments, and supplies.
  • Assists the surgeon at the sterile field with routine and specialty surgical procedures.
  • Maintains sterile field during surgical procedures, adhering to accepted standards for provision of safe patient care in the surgical environment.
  • Utilizes data from surgical preference cards for the surgical procedure and surgeon.
  • Demonstrates understanding of age-related characteristics and needs of patients served.
  • Communicates with the surgical team to assist with coordination and provision of surgical patient care.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a Surgical Technology program or Surgical Technologist training in the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • No previous experience required.
  • CST - Surgical Technologist Certification with NBSTSA or NCCT certification accepted if ST was employed as a ST in S.C. prior to January 1, 2008, or completed a ST military training program.
Other Requirements
  • Prepares setup and scrubs new technology procedures such as (TVAR) Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement, (LVAD) Left Ventricular Assist Device, Impella Implantation, Ablation Devices, Transmyocardio Laser, Cardio Assist Devices, and Endovascular cases.
  • Maintains surgical technology certification.
  • Completes 15 hours of mandatory ST education annually.
